AFES Horizons || Please be praying for the current Horizons program cohort as they continue their training in October. Be praying especially as they complete modules on History of World Missions; Global Mission Distinctives; & Global Faiths.

Pray in thanks for the ‘Love, Jesus Mission’ that was held on campus by Sydney University Evangelical Union through weeks 4-5 (24 August-4 September). Praise God that we had more than 55 evangelistic gospel opportunities, ranging from meals, talks, activities, socials, and Mark Drama. Most of these were thought up, planned and run by students with the aim of sharing the love of Jesus across the campus.

Give thanks for the many who came to the invitation night held on 22 September hosted by Orange Christian Students at Charles Sturt University and for the 2 students who were interviewed on Suffering and Jesus. Pray for those students who took Gospels with them to read them. Pray for significant ongoing conversations with students. Pray esp. for L, B and M who were keen to think more about putting their trust in Jesus.

Pray for Monash University, Clayton’s Christian Union’s Ecclesiastes Q and A on 6 October involving the main speaker Stu White. Pray that the Lord may grant Stu wisdom in answering the different questions and that the night may be a reflectional night on what Ecclesiastes has been teaching the students in where life’s meaning ultimately comes from.

Pray for the upcoming AGM for the University of Southern Queensland Christian Students on 7 October, that the new committee would be voted in and that they’d serve faithfully in the coming year.

Pray for Uni Bible Study at Charles Sturt University, Albury-Wodonga students having a go at writing studies for 1 Peter and leading them for the weekly groups.

Pray for Bathurst Christian Students at Charles Sturt University that their Tacos, Trivia and Testimonies night on the would run smoothly, create opportunities to have gospel-filled conversation, and glorify God.

Pray for University of New England, Armidale Christians United as many students return home during the break in the first two weeks of October, that they will rest well, and be prepared for the third trimester.

Thank God for the EU Sydney Uni’s AGM that happened on the 21 September in which the 2027 executives were successfully voted in. Do pray for them that they may be children of God that hold fast to the gospel and godliness, that they put off pride and adorn themselves with humility as they serve those who they lead in all Christlikeness.

Thank God for UBS CSU Albury-Wodonga and their Dine and Discuss outreach event on 22 September, on the topic of “how to care and keep on caring.” Pray that students will follow up with their non-christian friends they invited.

Pray for Griffith Christian Students at Griffith University, Brisbane as students go into the last few weeks of semester and exams, that they would finish well and continue to share Jesus on campus.

Praise God for the international student ministry at Australian National University, Canberra FOCUS. Pray that all ANU international students will be able to hear the gospel and have the hearts transformed by it.

Pray for the transition and incoming committee members of Ballarat Christians at Uni, at Federation University, that they can raise up servant hearted leaders and that the current committee and staff can support their transition.

Pray for students at Campus Bible Ministries at Western Sydney University, Parramatta to continue coming to bible studies and talks even as they prepare for the start of exams.

Pray for the annual general meeting for University Fellowship of Christians at the University of Tasmania, Launceston and the new executives for next year

Pray for the University Fellowship of Christians at the University of Tasmania, Hobart as they enter exam season from 10-25 October. Pray for peace as they revise and submit final assignments, and the wisdom to balance work with rest. May they continue to set aside time to seek God as their trust in Him shines as a witness to their non-Christian friends and classmates.

Pray that as the semester comes to a close for Christians at University at Australian Catholic University, that the Melbourne social event in week 12 will be successful and fruitful.

Pray that in line with the AFES Mission statement we will together present students on our campuses mature in Jesus (by God’s strength).

Pray for the new committee of the University of Wollongong Uni Bible Group & FOCUS as they begin their term, entrusted with shepherding the students and ministry on campus alongside the staff team. Pray that in the coming year they would joyfully and faithfully serve under their Chief Shepherd, so that many students would grow in maturity in Jesus and others might enter His sheepfold.

Pray for the incoming exec of CBM WSU Parramatta as they start that they would be godly and servant hearted leaders.

Pray for an effective handover to next years executive team for Evangelicals on Campus, at the Australian Catholic University, Strathfield, and ask that they would faithfully lead as a team.

Pray for SONOKO (IFES Cambodia) as they celebrate their thirtieth anniversary. Thank God for its growth and their 3/30/300 vision – 3 cities, 30 campus groups, with 300 students. With groups now operating in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, ask the Lord to open the way for pioneering ministry in Battambang.

Pray for the 2027 Committee of Bundoora Christian Union at La Trobe University, Bundoora as they prepare over the summer break. Pray that they may be united and excited about working with & for God on campus. Pray for also for Melody, the next president.

Romans 10:15a says, “And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?” Pray for apprentices for 2027 to be raised and sent to our campuses (and then beyond!) with the gospel.

Pray that the student talks from ACUCU Melbourne in October would run well, and many are able to come.

Pray for FOCUS (IFES Sri Lanka)’s in-person and online Bible study groups – that all would show such openness to students from different linguistic and religious backgrounds.

Pray for Evangelicals on Campus, at the Australian Catholic University, North Sydney as they partner with new mission partners. Pray for NTE sign ups, that students would see the value of it.

Thank God for “What’s Good” heightened mission at Campus Bible Study at University of NSW, that many non-Christian students could come along and hear about how God is good.

Pray that AFES will double our numbers offering themselves for Missionary Service.

Pray for Monash Clayton CU’s End of Semester Celebration on 20 October and for FOCUS’ on 23 October that it’ll be fruitful night reflecting on all of God’s blessing this semester and year and that the club may send out the graduates well in the Lord

Pray for students at CBS UNSW, that they would follow up with their friends in the wake of “What’s Good” heightened mission.

Praise God for providing so many nominations for the CU UWA Perth committee for next year! Pray for the new committee that they would prioritise advancing God’s kingdom and that the handover would be smooth.

Pray for GCS Griffith Uni Brisbane’s ‘Grad Night’ on 22 October, that students would be encouraged by the year that has been, that graduating students would leave emboldened and sent into future endeavours, and that it is a time of fellowship and joy.

Pray that students at USQ Christian Students would continue to be on the lookout for opportunities to share Jesus in their classes or tutorials, even as the end of year gets busy.

Praise God for mission boost at EOC ACU North Sydney, and all the students who did walk up. Thank God for new people coming along to GG and Bible talk.

Pray for those currently investigating Jesus by reading the Bible with others at Orange CS CSU. Pray for H who is reading the Bible with Karina. Pray for T who is reading the Bible with Eliana. Pray for D who is reading the Bible with Harry. Pray for F who is reading the Bible with Kunwook. Pray that all would come to put their trust in Jesus.

Pray for CU UNE Armidale and their October series on learning how to attend church and pray well, through studying two Christian books.

Pray that in line with AFES’ first value, by His grace, God will transform lives on our campuses into the likeness of Jesus.

Pray for students at University of Western Australia Christian Union to study well and lean on God’s strength as we reach the end of semester.

Please pray that Bathurst CS CSU would live as salt and light during the intensity of final assessments and exams. And that as they go home over summer they would continue live for God in everything that they do.

Pray for TSCF (IFES Papua New Guinea) as their one male staff worker departs to further his studies; that the Lord will stir young men to join the staff team. Currently, five young female staff support student leaders across different campuses.

Pray for the new executive committee at ANU FOCUS elected in September; that God will equip them as they prepare to lead FOCUS next year and that they will remain rooted in Christ.

Praise God along with the Uni Fellowship Hobart for the recent chance to farewell their graduating members, and for the session they participated in focussing on how to continue growing and showing their faith as they enter the work force. Pray for wisdom and peace as they seek God’s will regarding this next big step.

Pray that AFES will double our reach in calling people to turn back to Jesus in repentance and faith.

Pray that students at EOC ACU Strathfield would continue to prioritse meeting under God’s word.

Pray for Bundoora CU La Trobe’s NTE Mission from 26-29 November at both Donnybrook and Ballarat.

Pray for the end of uni year transitions for BCU Fed Uni, where some students will be heading back to their homes, others staying and some applying for summer work etc. Pray for a smooth end to uni for assessments and exams. For the preperations into NTE and for all the staff and students plans for over the upcoming break.
